Tomato Pulao

 Tomato Pulao is popular in South India, specially in States like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka . This is very flavorful Rice dish which is quick and easy to prepare. 



It is made of Rice, tomatoes and with the blend of some other ingredients. There are so many recipes of Tomato Pulao. But here I will share my easy and unique recipe with you. Follow all the steps.


INGREDIENTS


1. 3-4 big size Tomatoes


2. 100 grams Butter or Ghee


3. 1 Black Cardamom (badi elaichi)


4. 2 Bay Leaves (tez paat)


5. 10-12 Black peppercorn (sabut kali mirch)


6. 3-4 Green Cardamom


7. 4-5 Cloves (laung)


8. 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds and 1/2 tbs Cumin Powder 


9. 1 big size Onion


10. 4 Tomatoes cut into 4 equal halves


11. 1/2 teaspoon Chopped Garlic


12. 4-5 Chopped Green Chilies


13. 1/2 teaspoon Chopped Ginger


14. 1 table spoon Dried Coriander 


15. 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder


16. 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder


17. 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala


18. 500 gram Double Steam Rice (kachi basmati)


19. Salt per taste


20. 1 table spoon Fresh Coriander 


21. Lemon + Ginger For Garnishing


22. Water as required


RECIPE


1. Add 3 Tomatoes and water in a pan. Bring it to a boil for 7-9 minutes. Bring the Tomatoes out and let them cool. Peel off the Tomatoes and remove all its seeds and cut them into slices. Set aside.




2. Add butter in another pan and heat it.


3. Add Black Cardamom, Green Cardamom, Bay Leaves, Cloves and Peppercorns in it and cook.


4. Add Onion and Cumin Seeds to it and cook until Onion become lightly brown. 


5. Take a juicer jug and add Tomatoes, ginger garlic, Green chilies and water to it. Blend them well for 2-3 minutes and make a paste.


6. Add this prepared paste into the onion which becomes golden/light brown. 


7. Add Dried Coriander Powder, Cumin seed powder, Garam Masala, Turmeric Powder, Salt and red Chili Powder and coo for 1-2 minutes on medium to low flame. 


8. Add Rice and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium flame. Then add water and bring to a boil.



9. Dry the water on high flame. Then add boiled Tomatoes, green Chilies, fried/brown Onion, garlic slices, lemon and fresh Coriander on its top.


10. Cover with the lid or aluminum foil and cook for 18-20 minutes on low flame (dum flame).



11. Very tasty Tomato Pulao is ready to eat. Enjoy.
